Durham University Boat Club Winter Challenge Cup took place this weekend and yet again the weather gods smiled on us. A race report will follow but in the meantime, just to whet your appetite, here’s what we got through over the two days:
200 sausages
30kg bacon
20kg pasta plus sauces for the pasta bakes (all home made)
50 litres soup (all home made)
10 doz bread rolls
5kg porridge oats plus sultanas and 1 litre golden syrup (!!!) for flapjack
4 trays bread pudding
4 trays banana bread
40kg onions
20kg carrots
10kg parsnips
10kg + tinned tomatoes
Plus muffins, danish pastries and a fantastic spread of home baking from TURC members. (Who knows the total mass of flour, sugar etc!).
