Medalists in Gateshead Schools’ Indoor Rowing Championships
Tyne United managed to earn two medals in today’s Gateshead Schools’ Indoor Rowing Championships at Cardinal Hume School. The standard of rowing was very high with some exceptionally close competition.
Hannah Herriot won gold in the Girls Yr 10 event. Hannah – one of our junior girls new to the club after completing a learn to row course at the club with Ryton School – had a strong technical race which she led throughout.
Josh Pringle just missed out on a gold medal but took a well deserved silver with a storming race in what was a highly competitive Yr 11 boys category.
Both Josh and fellow Tyne United club member Leon Lofthouse rowed with sheer determination to try and get two medals for the club. Unfortunately for Leon, despite winning his heat, such was the standard in Josh’s heat that he had to settle for 4th place.
Well done to Hannah, Josh and Leon for all their hard work over the winter now starting to pay off as we approach regatta season!
