TURC Facilities

Tyne United Rowing Club Facilities

Based on the south side of the Tyne. We have some of the best facilities in the North of England and are very proud that our supporters continue to provide funding that allows us to expand further in tough times.

Clubhouse

Our clubhouse was erected in 2009 and has all the mod cons, with onsite cooking facilities our membership often enjoy club supper nights following training. We find that this is a great way of a various squads to catch up and also for the Development Squad integrate with our existing members.

Location

River Tyne, we are located on one of the best rivers in the UK and world. Our club position allows us to row up to the very scenic area of Wylam, regularly seeing Otter’s, King Fishers, Herons and sometimes the seal which just adds to a great row up the Tyne. Otherwise we can head in to the City Centre rowing through the Swing, Railway, Tyne and Millennium bridges, this offers a different satisfaction rowing in between our two beloved cities

Rowing Tank and Gym Facilities

Tyne United installed an indoor rowing tank in 2011. We took the decision that we wanted to allow our members to row regardless of the weather. The tank allows our coaches to work on technique in an environment that matches water conditions regardless if the heavens open. As well as the rowing tank we have a great selection of gym equipment to develop our athletes. We have 24 Concept 2 ergo’s, large weight stacks, Olympic free weights, 2 Concept 2 dynamo’s and a great matting area for core sessions.

Boat Fleet

Tyne United and Northumbria University, have pooled their extensive fleets to allow our members the best chance of getting out in some of the best boats. In phase 3 of our expansion we are also purchasing new boats, we believe in the evolution of boats and buying the best boats for our performance crews.
