Durham City Regatta

We had a very successful day at Durham City Regatta yesterday - 2 wins and 5 second places in finals.

It was good to see crews from York, Doncaster and Bradford traveling up for the event and providing competitive crews for additional competition.

  • In the J15 coxed quad races York beat QEHS and we beat Chester-le-Street (CLS). In the final we beat York. Well done to the boys and to Charlotte H (WJ12) who did an excellent job coxing
  • There were seven crews in the J14 doubles, Ethan K (J13) partnered Will V for the event and beat CLS in the final
  • There were eight crews in the WJ14 doubles competition, Elysia and Sophie came 2nd to Cambois in the final by a third of a length (about 1 second)
  • There were eight entries to the J14 coxed quad competition, the TURC crew faced QEHS in the final finishing runners up having broken an oar 50m from the finish line.
  • There were seven crews in the J15 doubles competition, Matthew H and Tom B earned a place in the final finishing a close 2nd to York in the final.
  • There were 16 competitors in the J15 single sculls. Ethan Taylor-Foley won his first 3 races and finished 2nd to CLS in the final.
  • In the WJ14 coxed quad category Elysia, Sophie and Harriet teamed up with Hexham rowing club to make up a composite quad which finished a close second in the final

These results are more impressive as only 14 TURC rowers took part in the competition. Well done to everyone who took part on the day.
