Juniors’ rowing

TURC Juniors at Bradford Regatta
We have a large thriving junior squad of Year 9 to Year 13 athletes (J14 to J18 in rowing speak!). Our juniors come from all across the North East from as local as Ryton just down the road to all way up in Morpeth!

Our juniors this year have raced across the North of England at events in Bradford, Newcastle and Teesside with more events planned for during 2010.

At Tyne United, we aim to give our juniors the best possible chance to find their potential, be that finding a fun activity for messing around on the river, getting fit through our indoor rowing training or aiming to compete at national and even international level through our club partnership with Durham University Boat Club, the regional GB Rowing High Performance Centre.

Through our Junior and Schools Learn to Row courses, we take on new members each year from Years 9 through to 13. Anyone juniors wishing to join who can already row can contact the Junior Co-ordinator for more information.

If you are a school pupil in Gateshead and want to Learn to Row but are in Years 7 or 8 at school, unfortunately Tyne United does not take on juniors directly at these ages. However, please contact your school PE department for more information on learning to row on the water via opportunities at your school or go onto the Gateshead and Whickham Schools Sports Partnership website for information on the Gateshead Schools Indoor Rowing League which Tyne United is proud to support.

For enquiries about Junior Rowing at Tyne United, please contact our Junior Co-ordinator Phil Smark.
