Men’s rowing

The Men’s Squad at Tyne United is small but by no means lacking in talent. This is the first season for the Men’s Squad and we are aiming to make an impression on the local and national rowing scene.

We have a strong mix of experience in athletes who have been competitive at events such as Henley Royal Regatta, National Championships and EUSA who are helping to develop our group of novice men.

The aim of our Men’s Squad for their first competitive year is to develop and grow a strong platform to become seriously competitive this regatta season and to ensure that we can go into next season with a large and competitive Men’s Squad to aim for national competitions.

We aim to ensure that our novices, be they from our successful Learn to Row courses in 2009 or those who have joined us from other clubs and regions, will be highly competitive in the regatta season in 2010 and that they develop the skill and fitness needed to join in with our experienced athletes for next seasons rowing.

The Men’s Squad at Tyne United Rowing Club may not be the largest squad in the region, but they have the resources and ambition to succeed in their long term goals. With some of the largest boat storage space in the North of England, as well as a new boat house and training room being currently constructed to house the 18 Concept2 Model D ergos we currently own, and a fleet of boats of which the majority are less than a year old – you can see why we are confident when we have said that we may not have a Tideway winning boat in 2010, but by 2015 who knows…
