Women’s rowing
The women’s squad at Tyne United is a strong mix of youth and experience; with women who have come through our Learn to Row courses last year now aiming to take part in their first racing season mixing in with experienced athletes who have raced to National and International standards.
The aim of the Women Squad this year is to be competitive at all levels – our novice athletes who came through our Learn to Row courses in 2009 are aiming to win at the local regattas in 2010, while our more experienced athletes are aiming to be competitive at national events this year. Even though this is our first competitive season as a club, we have already had success at events such as Tyne Long Distance Sculls.
At Tyne United, not only are our aims for racing ambitious, we have the means to deliver what we set out to do. We have a fantastic fleet of boats which have been bought with Women’s rowing in mind, our club house will be complete by May 2010, we have a group of coaches dedicated to bringing the best out in our athletes and we are continuing to develop our partnership with Gateshead Council (European City of Sport 2010) and Durham University Boat Club a GB Rowing Team High Performance Centre.
