At the weekend the 15 members of the junior squad competed against Yarm School, QEHS (Hexham), York, Doncaster, Chester-le-Street, Durham School, St.Leonard’s School, Chorister’s School, Tyne ARC, Durham ARC, Cambois and Leeds RC.
We were represented by one J13, seven J14’s and eight J15’s. The older juniors are busy with exams.
All crews were competitive and from comments afterwards everyone seemed to enjoy the races even if they did not win. There were lots of heats, semi-finals and finals rowed and lots of wins in races throughout the weekend.
The J14 boys managed a clean sweep in the J14 events winning the single, double and quad competitions.
The winners were:
- 1x – Michael Bessent
- 2x – Will Viney and Michael Bessent
- 4x+ – Max Forrest, Fraser Hutt, Michael Bessent, Will Viney and Ethan King (cox)
Well done to everyone who took part in the biggest regatta in the north and thank you to all the helpers and supporters. It was a good team effort.
