It was with great excitement Kat and Sophie arrived in London to be the clubs first participants at Pairs Head. The temperature was a barmy 18 at 10pm on the Friday night! However things started to go wrong when the host club issued a weather warning and a course inspection notice on Saturday morning. Eventually at 1pm on Saturday in torrential rain and a gusty windy they declared the race on. It was a magnificent sight and very exciting to see so many boats on the mighty Thames. After A soggy wait on the water, we got the call to strip and turn and the race began. It was a fabulous experience, which was over in a flash. No crabs, crying or crashes occurred and we were still smiling, if a little chilly when we returned to Putney High School boathous, who had kindly hired us a boat for the day. All in all a brilliant experience.
