The Tyne Regatta was held last Saturday 18th June.
17 juniors took part in the event and once again they were all from the J13, J14 and J15 age groups. At Durham it was the J14 boys who managed a clean sweep of wins in their age group. At this event it was the turn of the J15 boys who managed the same feat winning the 1x, 2x and 4x+ races.
The winners were:
- 1x – Ethan Taylor-Foley
- 2x – Tom Brewer and Matthew Hudson
- 4x+ – Jed Anderson, Tom Brewer, Mathew Robinson, Matthew Hudson and Lucy Fraser (cox)
The other winners were Will Viney and Ethan King who won the J14 2x (even though Ethan is still only J13).
A very strong performance was also put in by Sam Bohill and James King in the J15 2x who rowed a close race despite having a much slower boat (as we were short of suitable doubles).
Also, well done to Elysia Kirtley for helping out Hexham Rowing Club by jumping out of one WJ14 quad and dashing across the bridge to row in another WJ14 quad because one of their rowers was missing.
Unfortunately I was away at the week so if I have missed any significant results let me know.
A big thank you to Angela’s Rowing Photographs for her kind permission to republish the pictures in the gallery.
