Well done to everyone who took part and helped on Saturday.
As usual there were some problems at Wansbeck Regatta with unmarked submerged debris including near the middle of the racing lane.
At least 4 of our crews hit something submerged and unmarked and it looked as though some other clubs boat had similar problems.
Also, the steering came loose in TYU403 during an NTS race. Fortunately, we had Will Viney coxing and he has some coxing experience so was able to avoid a collision with derelict jetty despite the crew having no previous regatta experience and 3 of the rowers being still on the L2R course!
I think that everyone had an enjoyable day. I know that some were a little disappointed but I think that they all want to do more regattas. Often it is all about just taking part, enjoying it (if possible) and getting familiar with what you have to do at a regatta.
We had 4 wins and two 2nd places.
The wins were:
- J13 1x – Ethan King
- J14 1x – Michael Bessent
- J14 4x+ – Ethan King, Michael Bessent, Max Forrest, Will Viney, Charltte Hudson (Cox)
- NTS 2x – James King and Adam Shewry
